My journey with becoming a Natural Hair and Makeup specialist.

It all began several years ago when I became exhausted with creating generic ‘Bridal Styles’ that felt uninspiring and old fashioned. 

I mean seriously, are people still ACTUALLY requesting for ringlets?

For that ‘Dream Matte Mousse’ foundation finish?!

Anyway, no-one was embracing their individuality or more importantly their natural beauty and it felt like I was creating a cardboard copy of a ‘Bride’ for every client because they were all asking for the SAME styles and honestly, it was starting to make me feel sad!

This was especially true for being a natural Hair and Makeup artist based in Essex where the majority of my clients had never heard of the words ‘natural wedding makeup artist’ before.

“I decided enough was enough and I put a ban on the word ‘contouring.”

I hadn’t worked in the creative industry for over 10 years just to be giving my clients an idea of what they SHOULD look like rather than what they actually WANT to look like.

I put my fashion and editorial skills into good use and started showcasing Hair + Makeup looks with a more fresh, modern edge and to my absolute relief I had a flurry of inquiries from Brides that were looking for exactly that!

From that day forward Knot Your Average Bride was born and I made it my mission as a Wedding Hair + Makeup artist to always create and design looks for my Bridal clients that represent them and embrace their best natural attributes!
